Speaks about her prayer and the care and nurturing aspect of a child. This Malay proverb which literally translates to “bend a bamboo when it still a shoot.â€, speak of instilling values in a child when they are young, (rebung/bamboo shoots) because when they get older (buluh/bamboo) their minds are set and too strong and too rigid to sway like the bamboo. I am portraying the image of hands clasped in prayer overlapping against each other to resemble mother cradling her child.
