SHANU JAISWAL
Internally driven, and emotionally charged – Shanu Jaiswal is a selftaught artist, born in central India and moved to Dubai in 2011. She is a qualified Interior Designer with experience both in India and UAE. She crafted her journey as a visual artist by creating some unique styles in decoupage art, mixed media abstract canvasses and wall murals. Her recent favourite is working with chalk paints. Using a range of painting, colour and restoration techniques, she transforms a plain piece of furniture into a trending “shabby chic” look.
Shanu believes art is a rewarding pursuit and can be a powerful way to enhance our quality of life. She enjoys imparting this passion to her art students, encouraging the courageous use of materials and artistic expression. Her inspiration comes from both her life experiences and the colours & forms found in nature. Using colour as language, her work is alive with emotion through the movement of the brushwork and the luscious layered colours. Much like memories, each painting is filled with layer upon layer of paint, building a rich history into each piece.
Shanu is a part of various social initiatives, charity programmes and believes in uplifting the under privileged specially the community workers & labourers. She worked as a volunteer artist for Ramadan Sharing Fridge Art Charity Initiative by painting Fridges with unique themes and through her art she highlighted the true essence of the community with diverse culture backgrounds – love, unity, sharing and kindness. Shanu has been part of various Art & Lifestyle Exhibitions and Galleries in UAE. She has conducted live furniture paint demonstrations, art workshops and Solo Art Showcases for the brands like Pottery Barn & West elm – Dubai.
“In creating beauty, her artwork is a window into a place of hope, joy and rest, away from a noisy and imperfect world.”
