JOHN FUNG

John Kin-Chung Fung is an acclaimed photographer who was born in Madagascar, educated in Macau and settled in Hong Kong. From 1989 to 2004, he worked as a photojournalist for Next Magazine and Ming Pao Weekly Magazine.​

In 2005, John was invited by Oxfam and Greenpeace HK as a volunteer photographer to document the devastated areas in Southeast Asia and Africa. In 2009, his photography “One Square Foot” was selected for Sotheby’s Sale of Contemporary Asian Art in Hong Kong.  â€‹

Over the years, John’s multi-exposure photographs are taken at high speed and unmanipulated, open, complex and full of relationships that seem to carry humanity. He published photography books “Ten Years On” (2005), “One Square Foot” (2009) and “Let There Be Light” (2021).  His photographs have been exhibited at Hanart Square, Asia Society, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Eslite Bookstores and Taiwan International Visual Arts Centre, Guangdong Museum of Art, and Novosibirsk State Art Museum. Many of his works have been collected by museum and private collections.
