DAVID GALBRAITH

DAVID GALBRAITH

David Galbraith is an English fine artist and graphic designer. He could draw and paint from an early age, and studied fine art and graphic design at Medway College of Design, Chatham, England, during the early 1970’s.

He graduated from Medway College of Design in 1975 having gained a BA honours degree. Since then he has had a long career working in the creative industry. His first job was as a graphic designer, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from mid 1976 working for a period of two and a half years, and afterwards, mostly working in London as a graphic designer and fine artist. In 2019 he decided to change course and concentrate on painting and drawing.

He has always had a passion for horology, with a particular interest in mechanical timepieces and has recently applied his skills, as a fine artist, working on specific illustrative projects in the decoration of printed panels, set into the cases of beautiful, handmade, English mechanical clocks.

His original paintings are copied and screen printed onto blank panels. The printing process employs the chinoiserie, (raised image) process. The panels are hand lacquered and polished to give a supreme gloss finish. The clocks dials are also handmade and finished in precious metals.

The clocks feature mechanical, hand wound, beautifully finished movements.
